Chainsmokers Suggest Future Songs will have Guest Producers

The Chainsmokers have had so many hit songs, it seems like they have been around forever. Believe it or not, it has only been 3 years since The Chainsmokers first broke into the mainstream music scene. The group is made up of Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall and their hit songs consist of “Roses,” “Closer,” and “Don’t Let Me Down.”

Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall recently spoke to Forbes magazine about one of their newest songs “Sick Boy.” The song is all about the cultural shift in America. The song is constructed from the perspective of individuals from all over the country and talks about the changes that have happened the the country in the past year.

“We haven’t put out a song in nine months,” Taggart said. “Sick Boy” could be The Chainsmokers way of catching up with fans. The song is much darker than the previous songs of Taggart and Pall, and this is to be expected. “The next topic is a little bit darker,” Taggart explains.

Taggart told the interviewer that the darker themes are here to stay, at least for a while. “We’re going to keep them coming,” Andrew Taggart explained. However, Taggart said that music changes so fast, it may be hard to know what to expect.

The interviewer pushed The Chainsmokers for more information concerning songs that will be coming out in the future, but Taggart and Pall were pretty secretive when it came to new information. Taggart did mention that he was able to work with some very talented producers though.

“There’s some good ones,” Alex Pall said. “It’s not worth spilling the beans yet, but they’re all great.” The Chainsmokers wouldn’t say who would be assisting them on any upcoming tracks, but if their words are to be trusted, the tracks that resulted from their collaborations are sure to be a hit.

The Chainsmokers

The chainsmokers haven’t been around long, but they have made their name known across the universe. They have won several music awards including a Grammy, Billboard Music Awards, American Music Awards, iHeart Radio Music Awards, Myx Music Awards, and an MTV Europe Music Award.

Their popular hits “Closer,” “Paris,” “Roses,” “Don’t let me down,” and “Something just like this,” have all topped the charts for several weeks straight. They have collaborated with some great artists in their hits such as Halsey, Daya, Rozes, and Coldplay. They are continuing to create more music in hopes of expanding their audience and growing their crowds.

But before the chainsmokers hit it off big, both Alex Pall and Andrew taggart were both just the typical guy with normal lives and a dream of making it big.

Alex was already into DJing. He played in shows and even had a slight career going on. After a while he finally decided to give his dream a true shot, and his manager found Andrew, introduced them, and the phenomenon began. Not long after that they were creating top chart hits.

Andrew was a college student with a love for music. He was more into electronic music. He produced a couple songs and displayed them on SounCloud. He planned on pursuing a career as a DJ after graduating college, but his life took a turn sooner than he thought. Luckily, Alex was already playing shows with the chainsmokers, and was in need of another band member. Andrew heard about the opportunity of a lifetime, and he got on a bus and headed from Maine to New York.

Alex Pall’s manager introduced them, and the rest was history. They started creating some of their popular hits instantly. It didn’t take them long to be well known across the globe.

How Alex Pall Is Getting On In The World Of Music

Chainsmokers released their new track ‘Closer’, unlike their singles like ‘Don’t Let Me Down’, featuring Andrew Taggart and Alex Pall. As opposed to the musicians who stand behind a DJ booth, The Chainsmokers efforts to personalize their brand dance goes along with their ambition of being recognized as real artists with goals and ambitions. Pall and Taggart are operating to show their identity on a daily basis. When we spoke to them about their new track, establishing status, and their plans, this is what Alex Pall had to say.

About working together

Pall said that he was a DJ when growing up and this was his hobby. He worked as a DJ through New York City which was more of side work, and Pall was passionate about it. Pall was at the art gallery and noticed that dance music was wasting his life; therefore, wanting to give it a better shot. At that time he still was with the same manager who introduced him to Drew, so they met and started working. When he moved down from Maine, Pall had to quit his job, and that is how it all began. Go Here for additional information.

About how they knew it would work after they met

Pall said that they all knew what they brought to the table. Their talks centered on what they liked about music and how they grew up. They got up together each day and worked on music and creating their identities.

On working with Halsey

Pall mentioned that she was incredible. He further added that if you would have asked them which artist they would want to work with, the number one on the list was Halsey. Pall described her as a cool and unique artist particularly mentioning her powerful voice. (Read more about Pall on Interview Magazine: The Chainsmokers)

On the kind of person connecting with their music

According to Pall, from what he sees on social media, it is becoming more of international, something that is exciting. He added that it is like they are reaching 16 to 25 demographics. What impresses them even more, is when they get messages from their fans praising their music. Pall added that irrespective of the age or physical appearance of their fans, what they care for is how their music makes them feel.

The Chainsmokers: Artists or Sensations?

History has seen many hit sensations flame out. One minute they are all anyone can talk about, making records, and winning awards. But then society shifts, interests change, people mature, the phases on the moon influence the tides, whatever you want to call it. Point is for any successful entertainer to stay mainstream, they must establish themselves as a true artist. They will always have the die-hard fans who would follow them into the fire, but they also need the fringe fans who can like them and leave them. This is where The Chainsmokers currently are.

The hit DJ duo made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart have made quite a name for themselves in the last two years. Starting with their breakthrough song, #Selfie, the artists have gone from a top twenty slot in 2014, to the top 10 slot on Billboard’s Hot 100. They have from an obscure DJ/production group making remixes, to Grammy Awards winners. They have recorded songs with top artists like Coldplay and Halsey, even helped newcomer Daya start her career. Their Grammy wining song, Don’t Let Me Down, even rose as high as five on Billboard’s Top 100. All of this success has cemented them as artists and led to Forbes naming them the third highest paid DJ group. The duo, who comprises The Chainsmokers and whose music can be described as a blurred line between hip-hop, dance, Indie, and Pop, is only starting out and their next step determines the future.

2018 has already seen the release of their new single, Sick Boy, and the song is slated to take the duo in a completely different direction. The song is also the culmination of a decision to grow as artists instead of churning out the same hits that made them famous. The song, slated as a new chapter, has a darker tone. The direction it takes may very well cement the group as a mainstay, establishing them as artists. If successful then, The Chainsmokers will be regarded as legendary artists who influenced generations and not just as sensational artists, by history. Otherwise they will flame out. Alex Pall Is Broadening The Talent Pool For The Chainsmokers By Looking Within

When the Chainsmokers, a popular DJ duo in the music industry released their new song “Closer” with vocals by Halsey, it didn’t seem like news that would grab a lot of attention. It’s common for this genre of music to use another popular vocalist to sing the vocals for their music. The surprising news though was that Alex Pall had worked on “Closer” with his partner Andrew Taggart, knowing that his partner was going to share in the vocals of the song.

Pall has not been afraid to experiment with the electronic format which has been very successful to the Chainsmokers in their music career. At one-point DJ’ing was just a hobby for Pall when he was working in an art gallery. Once his partner at the time left their part-time duo, he looked for a new partner. Taggart was working at Interscope and heard from an intern about how Pall’s partner in the Chainsmokers was leaving. That is how the duo of Taggart and Pall that are one of the hottest duos on the electronic music scene were introduced.

Pall points out that the Chainsmokers do not stand out just because one of their writers is now singing vocals, but due to the process they use. He mentioned that they both are thinking about new songs and bouncing ideas off each other constantly instead of just when they are meeting in the studio. Their new approach is going to be to write more about events and people in their lives, which is not a common theme in the electronic music industry. Most are just trying to create an album of unrelated hits, while The Chainsmokers are creating a concept album with an underlying theme as their next step.

The new approach is a step in taking a greater amount of ownership over their music. Pall and Taggart indicate that they will continue to hire outside vocalists when they feel it is necessary. Reflecting back on music scenes from the past, they both agreed that the attachment to the song is what is missing, and hope involvement equals success. Click Here for additional information.

The Journey Of Alex Pall

Alex Pall, 32, a member of the award-winning group The Chainsmokers, grew up in Westchester County, New York. Growing up DJing had always been a fun hobby for Pall. While working at an art gallery in Chelsea Manhattan he soon realized that his love for dance music “had been consuming his life.” Pall had been working with their current manager, Adam Alperts, who introduced him to Drew Taggart, the other half of The Chainsmokers. Wanting to fully dedicate himself to his music, Pall quit his job and moved to New York City.

Although pressured by their music label and fans to produce an album, Pall was determined to wait until he and Drew could produce songs that were cohesive with one another. While they faced many difficulties in the music industry, there were perks as well. Pall remembered collaborating on their hit-song “Closer,” written on their tour bus, with the popular singer Halsey, who he described as “a very cool and unique artist.” See This Page for more information

To become the best possible DJs, Pall explained that he and Drew had become very observant of the world around them, noticing “who was killing it, and what was working and what was not.” Passionate about his music, Pall was also very honest about their songwriting process, stating that they work with other songwriters, but they write the songs with them, focusing on personal experiences.  (More about Pall on Interview Magazine: The Chainsmokers)

The Chainsmokers’ all hands-on-deck work ethic keeps their songs sounding authentic and unique, which is very important to Pall. His greatest payoff comes when he hears how his music has touched fans as far away as South Africa, hearing stories like “Hey, my daughter’s six years old and she loves your songs,” and they send a video of them singing it. Pall also thinks “it’s pretty cool” when his mom walks into the room humming their song “Roses.”

Pall revealed that the inspiration for their unique name The Chainsmokers came from a homeless man who once gave him a lighter for his cigarette. The man said, “oh you’re like a chain-smoker.”
